'District 9' was a breath of fresh air. Staring Sharlto Copley, it tells the tale of an alien mothership floating above Johannesburg, South Africa and the aliens co-existing with humans. The aliens are hated by most, but some human rights activists do accept them. Wickus, the main character is in charge of evicting the aliens from their homes to a new camp. In the process, he comes into contact with an alien device and starts slowly becoming one of them. His goal by the end of the film is to be rid of the infection. There are many twists and turns throughout the film and nothing seems to go the way you think it will. The CGI and motion capture in the film is spectacular. Almost all the aliens are played by actual people and their movements are so realistic. The director, Neill Blomkamp did a great job filming as this was his first Hollywood film. It is incredibly original as well. I cannot think of any other film like it. The acting is great, the effects are marvelous and the action is done just right. By the end, you will definitely be wanting more.
Twenty years after the arrival of an alien ship over Johannesburg, South Africa, the creatures have been segregated from humanity and when one human discovers the secret behind their technology he is hunted down inside the alien district.
