Going Clear by Lawrence Wright is a most informative, well researched non-fiction book about the cult of Scientology and how it not only brainwashes its victims into giving up everything they own or are, but the sham and hypocrisy of the leader(s) who are dogmatic, megalomaniac, power-hungry corrupt dictators. The story is told through numerous individuals who left the cult and were 'hunted' down and, in some cases, their lives destroyed by blackmail and false accusations. This is a book you can't put down once you pick it up. It's riveting, frightening, and all around incredible. Better than fiction.
Examines the Church of Scientology; discusses the esoteric cosmology, the auditing process for determining an inductee's state of being, and the Bridge for Total Freedom; and details how the church pursues celebrities.
