Talk about fun for the holidays! Billy gets a mogwai for Christmas, a Chinese creature with very specific care rules: don't get them wet, don't expose them to bright light (especially sunlight since it will kill them) and finally, don't ever, EVER feed them after midnight or you'll have a gremlin problem on your hands. This movie is a fun combination of suspense, a little terror, some holiday cheer and serious laughs and mayhem. I've always seen this movie as a Christmas movie, but I'm told just because it takes place during Christmas doesn't make it a Christmas movie. I beg to differ, because Gizmo, Billy's new mogwai, makes the holiday cheer and the heartfelt moments in the movie way too cute and enjoyable. Definitely a product of the 80s, this is a fun film for folks, but maybe keep the kids away until they're a bit older and not afraid of monsters under their bed.
When Billy's Christmas present of a pet Mowgli named Gizmo accidentally gets wet and his babies eat after midnight, devilish gremlins take over the town.
