After seeing the trailers for Inside Out, I figured I would enjoy the movie, but I wouldn't expect it to top any of my favorites lists. After watching the film, I am surprised to say that it has had an impact on me, unlike other Pixar movies. I'm a pretty emotional guy, but Inside Out really tugged at my emotions- in several different ways. At its core, it is a movie about a child growing into adolescence and learning to cope with complex emotions- already a heartstring-tugging concept. But because it is presented from the imaginary' emotions' point of view as well as the real' child's point of view, the viewer experiences the feelings at a magnified level. A film that can have that kind of impact on my emotional state while I watch it is excellent. On top of all of that, the ideas and representation of the inner workings of the mind were clever and rife with puns. I always like the puns.
When Riley moves from the Midwest to San Francisco, her emotions aren't sure how to navigate her new town, school, and house.
