Looking for more incredible, jaw-dropping, pulse-pounding action? Look no further than John Wick: Chapter Two, a terrific sequel that takes everything great about the first movie and dials the volume up to 11. Keanu Reeves returns as the title character, transporting us to an almost comic book-like world of hitmen, assassins, and high organized crime. Returners Ian McShane and Lance Reddick turn in delightfully fun performances, and the new cast members are also admirable. Yet the star here is the action. Numerous jaw-dropping, bone-breaking action sequences are littered throughout the film. Director Chad Stahelski smartly uses long takes to highlight the stunning choreography. Never once does the audience feel lost in the shuffle of violence; Stahelski always makes sure that we know exactly what's happening. The story is more of the same. John Wick tries to get out of the assassin life, and outside forces keep pulling him back in. It's nothing new under the sun, but when the action sequences are this well-crafted, there's hardly anything to fault. Bring on the inevitable John Wick: Chapter Three.
John Wick is forced out of retirement to repay a debt to a former associate and finds he now has a bounty on his life.
