I saw the film many years ago and am amazed it took me so long to read the novel. I have been missing out on so much! The movie feels more like cut up Cliffs Notes of the novel. There is so much backstory, different character interactions, and deeper discussions than I ever had imagined were in such a story. In particular, the character Malcom completely captured my attention whenever he spoke. The complexity and wisdom in his words are a reflection of the careful thought that the author, Michael Chrichton, put into the story itself. It was really amazing to see how some of the characters' personalities were entirely different. The founder of the park, Mr. Hammond, really surprised me in this manner. The story builds and builds in a scientific, plausible manner that makes you wonder at the possibilities of if dinosaurs were real in our time. I highly recommend this story as a must read!
