Saved! is a comedy that pokes fun at evangelical Christianity but ends with a message of true understanding and inclusion. The main character, Mary, begins the movie by describing her amazing Christian high school career along with having a boyfriend and being with the in-crowd lead by Hilary Faye. However, it all falls apart when her boyfriend confides in her that he's gay. In attempts to save him, after a vision of Jesus, she ends up pregnant and he is sent off to a Christian school for unwed mothers and LGBTQ youth in order to put them on the "right path". Hiding her pregnancy and feeling disconnected from the messages that she's grown up with, she makes friends with Hilary Faye's wheelchair-bound brother and the only Jewish girl in school, who Hilary Faye has set her sights on to save. The movie is very tongue-in-cheek and some might see that as it's weaker point. At its core, it is heartwarming even in the sillier moments and I highly recommend it as a movie to pair with "But I'm a Cheerleader" or even "Jawbreaker".
When Mary, a student at a Christian high school, becomes pregnant while trying to convince her boyfriend he is not gay, she finds acceptance among the school's misfits while her devout classmates ostracize her.
