Jasper Fforde is by far my favorite author. To describe an author as imaginative is redundant I know, but he takes the imagination to new heights. This book is in an alternate 1985 where there is a branch of government dedicated to ensuring literary works. The main character Thursday Next is well written and the storyline is one that goes for ages. He has a total of 7 books that follow this character in and out of famous works of literature, fighting a world-domineering corporation, and trying to figure out her own life. We watch her grow and figure out who she is and how powerful she is. It is full of whimsical bookworms, greater than life villain's, and a sports car that travels through time. In my professional but yet humble opinion, this series, as well as all his books should be read. Thanks for hearing me out.
In a world where one can literally get lost in literature, Thursday Next, a Special Operative in literary detection, tries to stop the world's Third Most Wanted criminal from kidnapping characters, including Jane Eyre, from works of literature.
