At first glance, The Queen of the Tearling seems to blend in with its High Fantasy brothers and sisters. The plot doesn't seem exceptional; a young queen is taking back her throne, attempting to do the impossible and restore her war-torn, damaged country. As the book continues, however, it's obvious that this world is not your typical middle-ages-esque fantasy world. (If you're looking for answers, however, you'll have to finish out the trilogy.) Trying to figure out the world is half the fun of the story, but the characters are incredible, and the book is hard to put down. You'll be rushing back in for the second book in the series as soon as you finish!
Coming out of exile to ascend her rightful throne, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, with a cadre of soldiers and the magical Tearling sapphire to protect her, makes a daring decision that evokes the wrath of the evil Red Queen.
