Id always heard about Jim Jones, but never really have taken the time to read the whole story. From Indianapolis to California to Guyana, Guinn takes readers on a journey through the Peoples Temple rise and eventual demise. The good, the bad and the ugly aspects of what happened are all included. The words that come to mind after reading this book are intense, chilling, crazy, and fascinating. Jeff Guinn does an amazing job of showing Jim Jones for exactly who he was a mostly charming and appealing man who was a master manipulator. I absolutely loved this book and am talking about it to everyone I know!
A portrait of the cult leader behind the Jonestown Massacre examines his personal life, from his extramarital affairs and drug use to his fraudulent faith healing practices and his decision to move his followers to Guyana, sharing new details about the events leading to the 1978 tragedy.
