This retelling of the Iliad in Patroclus' point of view is absolutely brilliant. This is definitely perfect for those tired of "girl-meets-boy" love stories. This book is both delightfully sweet and painfully tragic as you follow the growing love between a timid, exiled prince and his best friend, a hero destined for fame and glory. Madeline Miller's writing will paint Homer's epic in your mind as you've never seen it before. This book has become one of my all time favorites and has even inspired my current love for Greek classics. You won't be able to put it down.
A retelling of the legend of Achilles follows Patroclus and Achilles, the golden son of King Peleus, as they lay siege to Troy after Helen of Sparta is kidnapped--a cause that tests their friendship and forces them to make the ultimate sacrifice.
