Spark your child’s imagination with a special storytime and art workshop at your Flagship HPB on Saturday, July 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join local children’s author Lesa Engelthaler as she reads from her book Joan of Art, an empowering tale of friendship and self-affirmation about a young girl who dreams of being an artist, but struggles to find the courage to share her dreams with others. Afterward, young artist are invited to a special kids painting workshop led by Caroline Pinkston where they’ll learn fun painting techniques while exploring their own creativity. Register for the art workshop here. Not staying for the workshop? No problem! Every child attending story time will receive a take-home activity bag so the creative fun can continue at home.

Join us at your Flagship HPB on Sunday, July 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. for a special local author romance panel featuring romance authors from Dallas Area Romance Authors (D.A.R.A.). The event will feature a panel discussion followed by each author selling and signing their work. Authors include Michelle Miles (Once Upon a Midnight Clear), Stephanie Pass (The First Sin), Janet Leigh (Love at First Con-Flict), Jennifer August (Her Dark Master), Carolyn Rae (Double Jeopardy), Fenley Grant (Moonlight, Magic and Mayhem), Mary Karlik (Had Me at Howdy), and Amanda Reid (The Wolf’s Gamble). Meet author Travis Deverell, aka Shirtaloon, at your Flagship HPB on Tuesday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. Travis will join us to discuss and sign his latest book, He Who Fights With Monsters, the first installment of his new witty and magic-fueled series.
