The author, Dr. Teng-Kee Tan (Ph.D. Cambridge), is the former dean of a business school and professor of Innovation and entrepreneurship in the Midwest, USA. He was given the death sentence on April 25, 2013, when he was diagnosed as having stage-four pancreatic cancer with a less than 5% one-year survival rate. In the midst of his chemotherapy treatment and taking care of other important business, he invited his family and close friends to attend a "Living Memorial Celebration" (LMC) on July' 2013 in Washington State and delivered his own eulogy. Friends and families shared their live stories and antidotes with him and he responded with fun and meaningful reflections. He also planted fruit trees, released sky lanterns and performed other rituals to celebrate the event. The event has a significant impact on his mind, body and soul and that of all the participants. LMC has helped people come to terms with death and embrace our own mortality. This is a story about his live, his dreams, his philosophies, how he battles the deadly pancreatic cancer, his own legacy, his aspirations for mankind and the entire world, and how he cuts through death and sees his "living and leaving" in an interesting, fun, meaningful and purposeful way. Dr. Tan has won many awards in his career such as; "Man of the Year" and Professor of the Year." awards.
