Overview

My friends, I am concerned about America. I am also worried about us as Americans. There's
a distinction between the words concerned and worried. Concerned is really not as strong as
worried. Indeed, I'm concerned about America because I am worried about us as a people.

I'm worried about us as Americans because I am observing a trend of abandonment of what has
made us great in the past. Too many Americans have lost the extraordinary bond between them and the nation. They don't feel the same obligations to uphold, through their everyday behaviors and actions, the values that make us exceptional. Too many Americans have turned away from the sight of our time-honored value cornerstones as they weaken and crumble. Some Americans even believe that it's okay to kneel or sit while the national anthem is played. We have some work and educating to do here as a people.

I'm concerned about America because the number of Americans we could be worried about is increasing. If we don't address the pervasive ignorance of where we came from as a people, who we are, and what we all believe together as an American team, then there's a good chance that I, and you, should become worried about America in the near future.

Greatness is not a political buzzword. No political party nor individual owns the word. It's all about all of us together. Americans first--then Democrats and Republicans, or other affiliation afterward. Truly we need to be one in a worldview that holds America above the divisive and distracting political fray.

Our nation can and does withstand a great deal of agitation, leadership changes, commotion,
changes, value-shifting, and downright frontal attack. It's built to last--it's exceptional,
democratic, freedom-loving, and welcoming to all that wish to be part of it. But it requires a slight
adjustment at this point. We need to be much better Americans. We need to walk the talk and
do what we say is right--that's what this book is all about.
