Octavo book from 1890 on the nature of the pseudoscientific fields of phrenology and physiognomy, or the study of how personality is impacted by skull shape and facial structure, respectively. It contains the history of these fields along with how to practice them, and includes many illusrtations and charts. This hardcover is in poor condition, though it is not missing any pages. Dark brown cloth cover with significant wear on both boards, and is starting to peel away from the binding of the book. The pages are yellowed but intact, with very little writing or notation inside (mostly confined to charts, but still completely readable). The bindnig is holding together, though the spine is starting to break in spots.
