Half Price Books to Open Fourth St. Louis-Area Location on Friday, Sept. 4
Ribbon cutting, giveaways and major grand opening sale planned at the new South St. Louis County location
St. Louis – Aug. 13, 2026 – Half Price Books, the nation’s largest family-owned new and used bookstore chain, will open its newest location in St. Louis in on Friday, Sept. 4 with a weekend grand opening celebration. Located at 4491 Lemay Ferry Road, the store will be the fourth Half Price Books in the St. Louis area, and the sixth in Missouri.
The 6,700 square foot store will celebrate its official opening with free tote bags and $5 HPB gift cards for the first 100 people at the store Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. One lucky shopper each day will win a $100 gift card. Shoppers will enjoy up to 20% off their purchases throughout the grand opening weekend.
“We’ve been in the St. Louis market since 2014 and think we have found the perfect location for a new community of readers,” said Kathy Doyle Thomas, president of Half Price Books. “Our stores in Chesterfield, University City and St. Charles are performing well. We know it is the right time to bring the unique Half Price Books experience to the heart of the city.”
