Folio: n.p. Limp suede binding: blind-tooled title and butterfly decoration; printed in sepia on light-brown, deckle-edged paper; 44 gelatin silver prints pasted in, along with a tipped-in copy of a typed letter to Edison and Firestone from Burroughs, dated Dec. 11, 1916. Condition: Very Good. Slight bumping at corners: otherwise free of blemishes.
Travel diary printed for friends to commemorate a two-week 1916 road trip, the first of several forays into the Adirondacks and the Catskills made by naturalist John Burroughs, inventor Thomas Edison, and industrialist Harvey Firestone. All three signed this copy. The photos are rare glimpses of the camaraderie of these men experiencing the natural world and are accompanied by text, probably written by Burroughs. Scarce.
