5th edition of Joseph Meyer's Konversations-Lexikon, complete 17 volume set. A German encyclopedia which was originally published beginning in 1839, originally titled "Das Grosse Conversations-Lexicon fur die gebildeten Stande," which contained 46 volumes, then condensed to 17 by the 5th edition. Each volume has a differing amount of wear; Volume 1 has a spine tear, Volume 4 has a chip missing from the spine, other volumes have varying degrees of spine and general shelf wear. The volumes are also relatively free of foxing, with some pages only minorly affected. The vast majority of the text is clean, and binding is solid throughout the set. Includes black and white and full color plates, illustrating maps, various flora and fauna, diagrams and more.A remarkable resource of the time.
