Overview

When the end came for humanity, it came fast, and in the form of an array of horrific Monsters. Humanity built Mechs to defend themselves, but it was a largely futile enterprise. Only small pockets of civilization survived.

By the time the Monsters got done eating everything, there were only 27 left... and the world was largely destroyed. But the real danger arrived in the form of a gigantic asteroid, an asteroid filled with vicious, mindless, all-consuming alien Crawlies.

It's down to Beti, her Mech, and her telekinetic, telepathic co-pilot E.K. to hold off an encroaching army of Crawlies while her outpost retreats to safety. With trademark rapport and an array of awesome Mech innovations, Beti and E.K. cut and shoot through a swatch of Crawlies. It's so vibrant and intense that they feel like they've turned the tide... until they look back and see they've only begun to slow the horde. But they know they're all that stands in the way of humanity's destruction, so they turn to buy their people yet more time.

Meanwhile, the original amnesiac Pilot (who does not remember his name), his broken Mech and his AI sidekick (aptly named SID) begun to wake up. They are far away from Beti's fight, and are recovering from a battle of their own. After they trade some witty barbs, SID remarks that the Pilot seems atypically short in his responses. The Pilot responds that after their most recent battle, an explosion blinded him.

Back with Beti and E.K., the Crawlies have now surrounded their Mech. Beti decides that they have to keep fighting to the bitter end, no matter what, as every second of distraction counts. E.K. agrees, and so they fight on. But the Crawlies have a new trick up their collective sleeve. They begin forming as a mass, first as a kind of wave, then as an enormous fist. With one last desperate attempt - powering and electrifying their Mech with everything they have - our heroes zap every Crawlie they can, and all goes dark. Sadly, it wasn't enough, and as the next round of Crawlies begins to cover their Mech for the kill, Beti and E.K. say a heartfelt goodbye.
Smash cut back to the Pilot, screaming. SID is pumping artificially created cells into the Pilot's eyes through his helmet, which hurts... but is also working. While the Pilot can see, he sees everything differently now, in the form of pure energy. When SID tells him that they received a random distress call (we know it's from Beti's Mech), the Pilot asks for time to recover, and walks out to the surface of his Mech. Unbeknownst to him, one of the 27 Monsters - Krab - is right behind them all.

The Pilot's helmet springs to life - SID has now inhabited it with a little face and mouth, a Baby SID - and calls for action, but the Pilot says, "Wait." He reaches his hand out and connects with Krab. Energy swirls, he heals Krab's wounds and a friendship is born. It seems the Pilot's near-death experience, coupled with his new sight, has joined him with the Monsters. And so, after some modifications to their broken Mech, the Pilot, SID and now Krab race to the distress call.

They arrive to see Beti's Mech covered with Crawlies. Krab bursts through the mass, pulling Beti's Mech to safety, while the Pilot's Mech creates an energy cage and hits it with an explosive ball of light. While the Crawlie mass shifts into a towering form, it's no use: they are eradicated. But the reunification of the two Mech teams is anything but happy, as the Pilot does not remember Beti and E.K., and Beti evidently despises the Pilot. It seems the two used to be in a relationship, until the Monsters overwhelmed everything and the Pilot ran away. While the Pilot doesn't remember this at all, it requires some finesse on E.K. and SID's part to get everyone over the verbal impasse.

But there's no time for major reconciliation, as the defeated Crawlies were a small part of the overall number, and the remaining Crawlies have massed into a huge, towering, 1250-foot high Crawlie Scrum. And it's striding straight toward the last major city with only one purpose: destroy. The Pilot tells Krab to run for the hills, Beti takes command and the two mechs join to become one - the Mag Mech

It's a desperate last stand as the Mag Mech distracts and turns the Crawlie Scrum away from the city with a barrage of firepower and strategy. But not without cost: the Crawlie Scrum spills all over the Mag Mech, shorting out SID and appearing to destroy him. While the Pilot holds his dead friend in his arms, Beti consoles him, reminding him that no matter how bad things get, he's not alone. He raises his head, eyes burning with power, and says, "No... I'm not." Because Krab's come back, and it's brought all the Monsters in the region with it, and they rip the Crawlie Scrum apart, saving the day

The Crawlies do get one last distress call into the air, though, a fact our heroes discuss as they exit their Mechs. Beti and the Pilot meet each other anew, and Beti takes the pilots hand. And while our three remaining heroes greet the cheering denizens of the city, the SID helmet winks at the audience, suggesting there's more fun to come.
