The full title of this book is "The Clansman: A Historical Romance of the Ku Klux Klan." Minister, politician, and writer, Thomas Frederick Dixon Jr. was an avowed supporter of the antebellum South and White Supremacist viewpoint, and his works are all Reconstruction-era novels that reflect such prejudices.

"The Clansman" was first written in 1905 and was the inspiration for the controversial American film "The Birth of a Nation" in 1915; this copy of the novel was reprinted that same year, and features stills from the movie. It includes no dust jacket, and the cover is slightly rubbed along the edges and has some fading.
