A well written account of the war’s origins in which Craven highlighting economic factors without losing sight of the social factors involved, showing how the moral issue of slavery was useful to many more as a tool for political and economic advancement. This second revised edition is in G condition, bound in blue teal cloth with gilt title and author on spine, bumped at board ends, top edges stained red, beginning to fox. DJ in FAIR condition with closed tears that were taped together by the previous owner. Previous owners book plate and written name on front paste down and information on rear paste down. Signed on a tipped in signature card stating that it was autographed for the members of the Civil War Book Club.
