The “Prairie Edition” was printed by Knickerbocker Press, and features a frontispiece illustration in each volume, including a portrait of the author in the first volume of “American Ideals.” This fourteen volume set includes “Winning of the West” (vol. 1 – 6), “Hunting Trips” (vol. 1 – 2), “American Ideals” (vol. 1 – 2), “Naval War of 1812” (vol. 1 – 2), “Wilderness Hunter”, and “Hunting the Grisly.” Volume One of “Winning of the West” is signed by the former president, “With the Regards of Theodore Roosevelt, Feb 7th 1909.” This set was owned by Carl Branlund, the former Superintendent of Mail in St. Paul, Minnesota. The set was signed during the final month of Roosevelt’s presidency, and kept in the family for two generations.
