Overview

In 1958, Herman Melville's novel "Typee" was released in a Bantam paperback edition. This edition was particularly notable as a Bantam's first publication of the book. The novel, which recounts the adventures of two sailors, Tom and Toby, who desert their whaling ship and live with a Polynesian tribe, is also the basis for the 1958 film "Enchanted Island".
