A vicious fifteen-year-old droog is the central character of this 1963 classic. In Anthony Burgess's nightmare vision of the future, where the criminals take over after dark, the story is told by the central character, Alex, who talks in a brutal invented slang that brilliantly renders his and his friends' social pathology. A Clockwork Orange is a frightening fable about good and evil, and the meaning of human freedom. When the state undertakes to reform Alex to "redeem" him, the novel asks, "At what cost?" This edition includes the controversial last chapter not published in the first edition and Burgess's introduction "A Clockwork Orange Resucked."

Wonderful Book

sarah H. - 6 years agoI really enjoyed some parts of this book. The book is separated into three different parts, my favorite parts was two and three. The only thing that is kind of annoying about the book is the book is written in Nadsat a form of language made up by the author so you have to print out a glossary to understand the book. #SummerReading

Worth it
Corinne M. - 6 years 2 months agoGreat book in great condition. This was a very challenging read. The author study linguistics and created him own language. I would never have had the guts to pick it up and try reading it if not for Half Price Books. The price was too good to pass up and it was worth every challenging bit. Powerful message, amazing story. Recommend for all literary lovers out there.
