Overview

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a terrifying creature arrives to demand retribution. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she knows about only from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not truly a beast, but one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled her world.

At least, he's not a beast all the time.

As she adapts to her new home, her feelings for the faerie, Tamlin, transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But something is not right in the faerie lands. An ancient, wicked shadow is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it, or doom Tamlin--and his world--forever.

From bestselling author Sarah J. Maas comes a seductive, breathtaking book that blends romance, adventure, and faerie lore into an unforgettable read.

I was looking for something to help me tune out the real world and escape. This series was just that. There was so much going on throughout, making it to where I could not put it down after I finally got sucked in. I have read this series, as well as listened to the audiobooks and will do it all over again because I enjoyed these books so much. ACOTAR will forever be my favorite go to series.

This book is so freaking good. Some of the story slows down a tad in the middle and the imagery descriptions could be a lot better with the fighting scenes (like with the giant worm and bone pit)… but the story and plot are pretty good overall. GREAT read!

This book was just yummy. Obviously stories about fairies and the mortals that fall in love with them are nothing new. Fortunately for us, Sarah J. Maas has a unique way of taking the sometimes blas pairing and turning it into a pulse-pounding, jaw-dropping, nail-biting adventure you want to return to again and again.

  • Edgy fairytale fantasy

    Angela T. - 2 years 4 months ago

The first thing that struck me about this book was that it is a fairytale hybrid: part Beauty and the Beast and another part East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Soon I discovered that it was also something uniquely its own, something breathtaking. Maas has masterfully blended adventure, intrigue, and heady romance into a story that left me eager for its sequel. This is the story of Feyre, a young woman who hunts to feed her injured father and two sisters. As winter deepens, she is forced to hunt closer and closer to the wall that divides her world from the dangerous faerie realm. When an unnaturally huge wolf threatens her prey, Freya kills it, rightly suspecting that the creature is not what it seems. Later, a terrifying beast appears at her door, a shapeshifting lord of the High Fae who demands her life in exchange for his slain kinsman. Yet, rather than kill her, he mercifully offers to take her with him into the Faerie Realm, where, unbeknownst to Feyre, she has the power to break a terrible curse that has been put upon him and his people. The problem is, will she even want to? Find out.
