#BannedBooks. I read this book a long time ago, but it is still relevant. Young ladies will always question if they are normal, why is something happening to their body or not happening. This is a great story to help a young girl through a difficult time.
#BannedBooks (note I also review the Giving tree but forgot hashtag ) I read this book when I was a girl. It is a classic as it challenges girls to be their wonderful unique selves. Margaret, the main character is like any girl who questions life as she develops in to a young women.
This is a book that has stuck with me. I remember reading it a few times as a child, and I recommend it to any young child. Judy Blume is a great author!!
When I was in 4th grade a well worn copy of this book was passed from girl to girl with a passage about Margaret’s first period. We all read, nodded sagely and passed it along. I had no idea what I read. When I asked my Mom... well, a conversation starter for sure. This was the first book I read that had a community effect and one that cried out for conversation. I know it lead to my love of book discussions and group reads. Judy Bloom was such a formative writer in my adolescence I still remember her books clearly over 40 years later.
My mom bought me this book the summer before middle school and told to read it. She herself had read the book and loved it. It's a coming of age story about finding yourself.
