I loved it! It was a good read aloud for my 5th grade class.
I read this book in college while I was taking an education young adolescent literacy course. A small group of us read the book and then discussed it as if we were doing a book club so that we could analyze the book and think about how we could use it with our students. This has become one of my favorite books and now that I will be teaching 5th grade next year, I am excited to have this book in my classroom library. I not only love the story but I enjoy that it is told from the perspective of several different students. I think many students can relate to the characters and what they are experiencing. It is crucial for teachers to understand where their students are coming from and Mr. Terupt does a great job of that. Both adults and kids can learn from Mr. Terupt and his students so I encourage anyone who as an interest in this book to give it a read!
