  • Lots of pictures of books in bookshelves. Lots of excuses for owning more books than you can read in a lifetime. My kind of book.

    Megan B. - 6 years 5 months ago

I got this book when I was stressing out about all the books I had stacked on the floor and on tables and in boxes... hoping for a new solution. And the solution would appear to stop stressing and buy more. And buy more bookcases, which I had resisted. The book interviews book hoarders (I mean owners) who make me look like a slacker. One couple built their home designed around two-story bookshelves and bookshelves that seem to be open to the outdoors. And they all have lots and lots of bookshelves and don’t seem at all concerned about overdoing it. Some seem overly proud of never getting rid of a book. Seriously? Some books are not worthy of being kept. The subtitle is “How we live at Home With Books” so I’m not sure why bookstores were included. My favorite quote: “Whatever I read is a reminder of places I have been, or of where I’d like to go. Adventures— even tame ones.”
