Perfect introduction to superheroes for beginner comics readers
Nancy P. - 2 years 6 months agoThe Blackest Night arc was my re-introduction to comics. It's a perfect introduction to superheroes for beginner readers and a fascinating plot for long-time fans. While its main focus is on the various colored Lanterns - who achieve their powers from rings of different colored light - it includes a vast array of other superheroes, from the famous (Superman) to the relatively obscure (Hawk and Dove). The art is amazing without being overly conceptual: an excellent example of DC layouts and character design. What struck me the most reading this arc was the in depth of character analysis that took place within the overarching story. As a reader who was familiar with the main DC superheroes but almost completely ignorant of anyone who wasn't front and center in a Justice League cartoon, this book gave me a sense of the broader DC universe while simultaneously allowing me to rethink my characterization of the superheroes of whom I was already a fan. That, and who doesn't love a good battle with a cosmic necromancer?

Got me into more comics
Colin S. - 6 years 2 months agoSuch a great event comic that combines tons of lore but makes itself accessible enough to new readers. One of the first graphic novels that really grabbed my attention. Felt more epic than most movies that come out. #SummerReading
