Wonderful book all of us should read and should be part of our HS and college curriculum. I have recommended it to all my family and friends. All Americans need to read this and share their own experience with the issues she writes about.

  • so much good in this book - learn and grow!

    Lavelle F. - 5 years 6 months ago

Excellent overview of why racism and caste hurt society. The author uses shocking examples from history that literally make you hurt but they make the point - that we have not and cannot be the society we could be. Very readable and packs a punch. Highly recommended.

  • Viewing America without illusion

    Vincent B. - 5 years 7 months ago

This book speaks eloquently and boldly of the misunderstanding of racial history and its effect on people. With incredibly rare exception, it shows the impact of caste in America and the invention of race.

  • Caste in America??

Wilkerson is a wonderful writer who blends a relaxed narrative approach to her thoroughly researched body of work. The term caste system has always been to other countries rather than here in America. The shoe fits; we must wear it.
