    Classic, timeless science fiction! Not science-heavy, it's more about a question of "what-if". What if an alien race came to Earth and cured us of all our ills? How would we respond? What is their purpose? As with the best of all kinds of literature, it is these fundamental questions that drive the story. Great story, beautifully written. #2020Picks

    Without warning, giant silver ships from deep space appear in the skies above every major city on Earth. Manned by the Overlords, in fifty years, they eliminate ignorance, disease, and poverty. Then this golden age ends--and then the age of Mankind begins.... I couldn't believe this book was written in the 50s, it reads like it was written today with all the same societal issues. Not only is it fantastic sci-fi, it is also great social commentary. It deals with issues of race, religion, violence against animals and each other. It is such a quick read that will stick with your for the rest of your life. If you're going to read a science fiction classic, pick this one - I implore you.
