Absolutely love this book. As a master's student in family therapy, the in-depth exploration of shame and vulnerability enlightens mine and my colleague's work. The writing is approachable, easy to follow, and makes fora good bedtime or breaktime reading.
Great book, it tells the importance of people that support you, and not to listen to the negativity of people not in your corner.
I love this book. As a therapist and a person who understands the role that shame can play in a person's life this book is invaluable. It is challenging, eye-opening, and can transform the way you approach your relationships. I loved how she puts numbers to the idea. It isn't just a random self-care book with little basis in fact. She is a researcher who has done the work and backed it up with science.
Explores things common to all of us: vulnerability, shame, and the desire for connection. Full of powerful insights and ways to grow.
Not feeling connected? Betrayed by a mate? Abused by someone? Daring Greatly is a primer for learning what it takes to be "all in" with the people in your life despite the traumas or troubles that have come your way. For me this book has been an adventure in reading, thinking, underlining, note jotting, rereading followed by some very deep thinking. I've almost wet my pants laughing out loud; conversely I've finally put into perspective the betrayal that jolted my life. We've all been there brokenhearted over something. This book provides practical guidance for understanding what you've been through and learning how to begin anew. Daring Greatly has been a true bridge over troubled water for me (thank you Bren and Simon and Garfunkel)an incredibly insightful, research based work that helped me find my way back to a deeper, more connected, "all in", vulnerable, people-loving kind of life. Read it, if you dare!
