Loved the zany first season of the show based on Douglas Adams' novel. So I was very much interested in reading the book and experiencing the same wacky fun. Well, it was fun...mostly, sort of, in a Douglas Adams way. But (spoiler alert) NONE OF THE CHARACTERS from the show are in the book! Well okay, except Dirk Gently. But he doesn't show up in his own self-titled opus until 100 pages into the book. I kept texting early on a friend of mine, that I was reading this book called "Dirk Gently", but it had no Dirk Gently in it. Still it was fun. But I thought it would've been MORE fun if it had been about the TV characters: Todd Brotzman, Bart - the "holistic assassin" (my favorite character after Dirk), Gordo and his body-swapping crazies, the Rowdy 3. But mostly Dirk and Todd together. They were hilarious. A not-so crime-fighting duo. #SpringPicks
Very witty and a fun read. Never read any of Terry Pratchett’s books before this one. Always a fan of Douglas Adams never knowing that Mr. Pratchett was a big influence on Mr. Adams. Their dry humor is very entertaining. Highly recommend this book as well as anything else written by Mr. Pratchett.
