A refugee love story
Steve L. - 6 years 11 months agoThe love story of Saeed and Nadia has a couple of twists: their home city is becoming destroyed and unlivable--and they are able to magically escape it (along the lines of C.S. Lewis's wardrobe). The little touch of fantasy doesn't take away from the sense of danger and chaos in their world, and the struggles related to trying to just be in love and live a normal life when you're forced to be a refugee. Reading fiction develops empathy, they say. This beautifully crafted story challenges one's complacency. You think, If my world was falling apart and I had an opportunity to escape it, would I not do that?
