In Faithless in Death, the new Eve Dallas police thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, what looked like a lover's quarrel turned fatal has bigger--and more terrifying--motives behind it...
The scene in the West Village studio appears to be classic crime-of-passion: two wineglasses by the bed, music playing, and a body with a bashed-in head. But when Dallas tracks down the wealthy Upper East Side woman who called 911, the details don't add up. Gwen Huffman is wealthy, elegant, tearful over the trauma of finding the body--but why did it take an hour to report it? And why is she lying about little things? As Eve and her team look into it, they find that the lies go well beyond murder--and soon they're getting the FBI involved in a case that involves a sinister, fanatical group and a stunning criminal conspiracy...0
I always love her books, and have the whole In Death Series and read them over and over again.
What a righteous takedown of a nasty, bigoted, human-trafficking cult! Hats off to Lt. Eve Dallas and her team of NYPSD cops in the year 2061. And kudos to Roarke, her e-geek gazillionaire husband, who is still a little surprised by his own flair for police "consulting." It feels good to visit old friends and enjoy some lighter moments, even when heavy stuff is going down. Dallas is still finding fresh idioms to mangle; Roarke still radiates Irish charm while finessing locks like a cat burglar; detective Jenkinson's neckties still pose a blinding hazard in the bullpen; and Mavis, still frosty to the ult, is nesting again. Nora Roberts, AKA J. D. Robb, is the world's most amazingly prolific writer. Would you believe this is the fifty-second volume of her "In Death" series? Every single book is a full-length, masterfully crafted page-turner. What an outstanding story-telling talent!
