  • Beautiful, Fun to Look Through Book; Perfect For My Purposes

    This book was exactly what I’d been looking for. It is full of high-quality photos of real clothes, including underclothes, ranging from the 18th century up to the year 2000, each with a description of what the item is. Each century also begins with a short history of clothing during that time, so you know what you’re seeing at as you look through the pictures. I will add, though, if you are looking for reference on clothing for men or the lower class, this might not be the right book. Most of the clothes are worn by higher-class women, which makes them all the more elaborate and beautiful to look at, but it is only a part of clothing as a whole at the time. Overall, this is a really fun book that you could spend forever looking through, while also learning a lot about the history and behind-the-scenes of Western clothing.
