I’m a big fan of the Riley Sager mysteries/thrillers. This and Survive the Night are my favorite.
“Final Girls” is the story of Quincy, who is the sole survivor of a sorority-style massacre 10 years ago. She went to a cabin in the woods to celebrate a friends’ birthday and everyone was killed… except her. Aside from being totally traumatized, the public has put her in a category of “Final Girls” — victims who were the sole survivor of similar-style killings. She has two kindred spirits… until one of them comes up dead. Why? How? WHO? I know this sounds very scary and slashery… but if I can read it, probably you can too (unless you’re really, really scared, of course). There were several twists in this book that I really enjoyed, and one that sent me down a rabbit hole was, WHY was Quincy the sole survivor? The public wanted to know, too. What happened that night? Why was she spared? #SpringPicks
I could not put this book down, I would try to put it down and have to pick it right back up because I HAD to know what was going to happen next. The ending left me absolutely shocked, I didn't see that twist coming from a mile away. I actually bought a copy just so I can loan it out to friends.
If you love thrillers and horror movies, you will love this book. Quincy is just your average college girl until she becomes the lone survivor of a massacre in the woods. Propelled from anonymous person to the eponymous "final girl," Quincy fights for normalcy and finds it for a short time. She soon finds her life under attack again as one of the three final girls from recent history is brutally murdered and the other pops up after decades off the grid. This book had an excellent twist that I did not see coming. The writing is compelling and the characters complex. Well worth the read.
HPB Staff ReviewI loved this book. I am addicted to true crime, serial killers, etc and so I was tempted to pick this book up about a group who was murdered and the line surviver becomes friends with survivors from other horrible crimes and the media gives them the name the final girls... Some memories and truth surfaces about what really happened the night all her friends were murdered and there's a chance the true killer is still out there and may do anything necessary to make sure the truth stays hidden
