HPB Gift Cards can be purchased online and at any of our retail stores. Gift Cards bought online must be purchased separately from other HPB items.
No, your HPB Gift Card does not have any dormancy fees, nor will it expire. Use it whenever you'd like to shop at any of our retail HPB locations and at HPB.com (excluding Outlets).
To check the balance on your HPB Gift Card, call 1-800-883-2114 or call your neighborhood HPB location. Or, ask at the register while you're in the store. You must have the card or card number with you in order to check the balance.
Yes! You can use your gift card just like any other payment method during checkout. But you do need to know your gift card's PIN. If it doesn't have a PIN, just take it to an HPB location and exchange it for one that does. Find a store.

Buying HPB Gift Cards online is simple. Here's what you'll need to complete your purchase:
1. Recipient's mailing address for delivery to yourself or Gift Card recipient(s).
2. Valid email address to receive a confirmation receipt of your order.
3. Credit card* account number, expiration date and Security Code.
*For online Gift Gard orders, we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.
Gift Card orders are usually processed within 24 hours of your online transaction. Once you place your order, you will receive an automatic confirmation email to the email address you provided when you created your free HPB online account. We recommend printing your confirmation email for your own records; it contains your Order Number and summary of your purchase. If you have any questions regarding an order, you will need to provide us with the Order Number. Once an order has been processed and shipped, it cannot be cancelled. If you have any problems with your order, please contact our Gift Card Customer Service representatives and they'll be happy to help you.
For online Gift Card orders, we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. In stores, we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Traveler's Checks, personal checks and cash.
To print invoices for a recent or past order, first log in to your Gift Card Shopping Account. Under "My Account" select "Order History" and then click "View." From this page you can print your receipts and invoices. Each transaction is assigned a unique Order Number, which appears on your receipt and in your auto-confirmation email. You will need this Order Number to reference the specific transaction if you need to call the Gift Card Customer Service Hotline regarding your order.
When you create an account at the HPB online store, we will store your information, including your order history. Log in to your Gift Card Shopping Account. Under "My Account" select to view your "Order History." To view more information about a recent or past order, click "View." Click "Track" to view the shipment's current status. Was the HPB Gift Card a big success for your last gift-giving occasion? Select from your past orders to "Re-order" it again.
Are you missing an item? If you purchased more than one Gift Card, they may not arrive together. We may have split your order into multiple shipments, in which case they will arrive on different postal delivery days.
Did you receive the wrong item? If you did not receive the item design or denomination that you ordered, please contact our Gift Card Customer Service department. We'll ask you for your Order Number, as well as information regarding the Gift Card you received. We may be able to send an additional or replacement Gift Card to you or your gift recipient(s).
Wondering where your order is? If you have not received your order within 20 business days, contact us at giftcards@halfpricebooks.com. In order to check the status of your order, you must provide us with your Order Number. Keep in mind postal holidays when expecting the delivery of your Gift Card. Learn more about shipping here.
Half Price Books occasionally offers in-store promotional gifts and rewards for Gift Card purchases. In-store promotional offers do not apply to online Gift Card purchases, unless stated. In addition, no coupon or discount may be used when purchasing a Half Price Books Gift Card in store or online.
Your Half Price Books Gift Card may only be used for making purchases at participating Half Price Books stores and at HPB.com. It cannot be returned or redeemed for cash, except where required by law. Card must be presented at time of purchase. Purchases are deducted from Gift Card value until balance reaches zero. There is no expiration date or dormancy or service fees. For Customer Service, drop us a line. Visit a Half Price Books store to reload this card with additional funds or to learn your Gift Card balance. Neither this card nor its value can be replaced if lost, stolen, destroyed, altered or used without your permission.
