Expect the unexpected
Tawnya S. - 6 years 5 months agoGirl in the Blue Coat is a great book. I couldn't put it down. Just when you think you knew what was going to happen or happened, it turns out to be the unexpected. I liked that it was an easy read but made you think about what it was like during the time period. I highly recommend it.

A Must Read.
HPB S. - 6 years 5 months agoFantastic. It was light reading from a literary standpoint, but mentally… I had to put it down a few times to think through what was happening. This novel is about a young women who works on the black market in Amsterdam during WWII. Surrounded by Nazi’s in her everyday life, she gets tangled up in helping this small group of people hide away and find missing Jews. Just hearing that brief summary was probably a lot to take in on its own. But this 301 page novel is filled with heart wrenching facts in fictional story. After reading it I was compelled to do some research about some of the events that occurred, and they were all real. This story may have been crafted by Monica Hesse… but the reality was built by humanity. Nothing you can imagine on your own is like the factuality of what happened in our past. The knowledge of remembering our past is a crucial form of wisdom that provides us with a thoughtfulness that we may not of had before.
