Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.
All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley - a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry - and anyone who reads about him - will find unforgettable.
For it's there that he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him... if Harry can survive the encounter.

This book brings you into a wonderfully magical world full of wizards and witches. This first book is a great introduction to the characters and perfect for older kids and tweens. We love getting into this series as a family and my 10 year old is particularly obsessed with the whole magical world of Harry Potter. #SpringPicks
I would 100% recommend this book. The author, J.K, Rowling, does a fabulous job putting in the detailed descriptions throughout the book to hook the reader. The films are amazing, too! You MUST read the series! #SpreakPicks
Love this book, the writer does an excellent job to introduce us to the world and keep our attention and having us beg for more! #SpringPicks
First book I ever really fell in love with. My parents had been trying to get me to read more, and they had the first three books sitting on the shelf. So I picked it up, and by the time I was halfway through they couldn't get me to read anything else except Harry Potter for about 2 years. I don't think I can say anything about this book that hasn't already been said. It's a story that won't ever leave me, that I'll be reading to my kids when that time comes. Magic, friendship, children standing up to tyranny in their school and government; everything you could possibly want in an escapist childrens' novel.
