Harry Potter was published as I grew up (lucky me), and I spent my childhood, like many "first-wave" Harry Potter fans, knowing whatever U.S.-based witchcraft/wizardry school existed had somehow lost my letter. As an adult, living without magical abilities was rather dull, but my mother and grandmother's crochet and quilting seemed nearly magical. I taught myself to knit via Muggle magic: YouTube and books. "Knitting Magic" joined my craft book collection the day it was released. It has projects for beginners and experts alike, drawing on a broad spectrum of knitting techniques. Even better, the projects look like something from the wizarding world. And you can knit a Hedwig!
