A fresh and funny contemporary YA rom-com about teens working as costumed characters in a local amusement park. Elouise (Lou) Parker is determined to have the absolute best, most impossibly epic summer of her life. Not my cup of tea...
Anika M. - 6 years agoI just finished reading this book and as much as I am determined to tell you the good things in this book, I still would like you to know how disappointed I am with this read. I do have to say, there is great representation with queer characters and relationships and I am really happy that there's another lgbtq+ novel out there to support the community. But, the other contents of this book still felt like a waste of time to me. I ultimately hated how the main character used and manipulated everyone else for her own happiness and *then* realized, in the aftermath, how much her actions made an impact on the people around her. Seeley, Elouise's best friend, gave Elouise way too much credit when it came to her overall character and personal traits. Elouise made me want to rip my hair out all the time because she was just so frustrating. To be honest, any books where the main character spends the entirety of the novel pining after one guy who doesn't really seem all that great in the deep end of things isn't really my type of novel. If you really want to give this a try, romance and comedy fans, go ahead. But I can't guarantee you won't be disappointed or frustrated.
