The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his thirtieth birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years -- except Biff, the Messiah's best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in the divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work "reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams" (Philadelphia Inquirer).
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more -- except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdala -- and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

The Bible does not say much about the Messiah's childhood and adolescence, so let Christopher Moore enlighten you about those missing years. This novel is an irreverent coming of age story about Christ, Mary Magdalene, and their lesser-known buddy Biff. It is funny, thought-provoking, and poignant. If you laughed at Monty Python's Life of Brian, you would certainly enjoy this book.
HPB Staff ReviewI have always loved Christopher Moore. He's in a genre all his own. I decided to re-read LAMB during the Easter holidays this year because, gosh darn it, I loved the irony. LAMB is by far one of my favorite Christopher Moore books. It's smart, sarcastic, often irreverent and laugh out loud funny. If you're devoutly christian, this may not be the book for you. But if you've got a sense of humor and can take a little poking fun at religion, then crack this baby open and prepare to be entertained! #springpicks
This is many readers' favorite book by Christopher Moore. As someone who spent most of his life in conservative Christian churches, I suspect that YET ANOTHER retelling of the story of Jesus perhaps seemed a bit redundant. However, it IS Christopher Moore's retelling, which makes a significant difference! It is reliably outrageous and irreverent. Any conservative religious person should avoid this book, as it does not align with the traditional depiction of Jesus and is likely to offend on that basis. On the other hand, Moore does not morally compromise Jesus through his depiction. I enjoyed the account of what Jesus did during the 18 years that are unaccounted for in the Bible. I had heard the theory before, but enjoyed Moore's unique rendering of it. I disliked the ending, though in retrospect I should've seen it coming. Again, I gave it four stars. It was overall an enjoyable read!
Fantastically written, with giggly outbursts!!! He really did a lot of studying and add new life to old characters!!! #SpringPicks
If you enjoy humor this book is for you. This story is told by Biff who is Jesus's best friend. There are many parts in the book that make you laugh out loud. The storyline definitely keeps you wondering what will happen next. #SpringPicks
