  • A Cozy Childhood Favorite

    I loved this book growing up and still adore it. I remember every once in a while my mom would take me to get a treat and would read to me all of the Little House books. I always looked forward to those times. Laura Wilder explains the day to day experiences of life on the prairie in a way that you appreciate what they dealt with and aren't bored listening too. This book helped to develop my love of history. Also if you ever get the chance to visit it, the Laura Ingalls Wilder house in Missouri is amazing and is worth the trip! #BannedBook

    I read the entire Little House on the Prairie collection when I was a young girl and I am proud to say that I still own the collection today and that my daughter has read it, also. I recommend this book to be read by anyone as it tells about a family travelling to make a new home and the events that they encounter. I do not understand how it can be called controversial or banned. This is a great work of literature and Laura Ingalls Wilder's life story. #BannedBook

    This was such a fun book to read aloud with my kids. They were captivated by the story, the suspense, and wanted to know so much about the history behind the story. It was a great entry into further historical study. #BannedBook

    This book gives me a cozy feeling every time I read it with one of my children; I have read it multiple times. I read somewhere that because Laura acted as Mary's eyes, she had wonderful recall and vivid descriptions of places and people. That comes through in her books. A wonderful way to introduce children to this time period.

    #SummerReading This book is a gem for children that are studying the 1800's, the Midwest and the prairie. We used it for home school studies and made a prairie notebook with some of the things that they talked about in the book. It is interesting and engaging to read. It gives children a glimpse into a different lifestyle.
