First of all, "Matched" by Ally Condie is a very well written book! The language she uses makes you want to read more! Cassia lives in "The Society" where everything you do is decided for you. From where you live, work, how your free time is spent, what you read, write, and listen to, even when you die! They also decide who you will marry by having a "matching ceremony," hence the title of the book. Cassia is matched to her best friend, Xander, and she trusts The Society's decision. However, when she places the card with Xander's information in her computer (because you have to know who you'll be marrying, right?), another face flashes on the screen, a boy that she knows, Ky. She gets confused and is told that Ky would have been her match, however, he is not eligible to be matched. At this same time, Cassia's grandfather is turning eighty, which according to The Society means he needs to die. He leaves Cassia a poem by Dylan Thomas, that encourages her to look at the world around her and think for herself. The adventure begins from there! This book is amazing.
