Overview

“By teaching us how to read, they had taught us how to get away.” An early printing of Robert O'Brien's classic tale of mice, rats, cats, compassion and social responsibility, featuring detailed illustrations by Zena Bernstein. Tucked in this copy is some contemporaneous ephemera: newspaper clippings of articles reporting on John B. Calhoun's work, which was an inspiration for the novel. The condition is Very Good. The boards are undamaged; there is only a bit of foxing to the top of the text block, near the spine; and the dust jacket is uncreased with a small tear at the top and features the Newbery Medal foil embellishment. Second Printing stated. Mylared.
