An early printing of Robert O'Brien's classic tale of mice, rats, cats, compassion and social responsibility, featuring detailed illustrations by Zena Bernstein. Tucked in this copy is some contemporaneous ephemera: newspaper clippings of articles reporting on John B. Calhoun's work, which was an inspiration for the novel.
The condition is Very Good. The boards are undamaged; there is only a bit of foxing to the top of the text block, near the spine; and the dust jacket is uncreased with a small tear at the top and features the Newbery Medal foil embellishment. Second Printing stated. Mylared.
