A beautiful tale of a young boy entering a new school. A tale of fitting in that combines the struggles of being a seventh grader, a mixed race child, and entering a new locale. Even as he enters a more prestigious (and pricy) school, lead character Jordan finds himself torn between his family life and a new world of friends who have more money and bigger houses.
HPB Staff ReviewIt was a good story. With under tones of dealing with racism. That helps add to the story.
I absolutely loved this book! It’s funny, honest, and a must-read! Jerry Craft does a wonderful job of addressing stereotypes and showing how difficult it can be trying to fit in and make friends in middle school. #SummerReading
