Jodi Picoult is one of those authors who is known for tackling hard subjects and doing so by looking at all sides of the conversation. Nineteen Minutes is about the events leading up to and the aftermath of a school shooting. The book centers on the school shooter and his family and one of the survivors of the shooting, who was once best friends with the shooter. It is poignant, realistic (except for one tacked-on romance), and tragic. This is not a happily-ever-after read, and it tackles several very intense topics, but it also a very necessary book. You will honestly feel as much for the shooter as you do his former best friend. Jodi Picoult is a gifted storyteller, and this is, in my opinion anyway, her best book. #SummerReading

This was one of my favorite books by Jodi Picoult. It had a conflict deeper than any other, which made it very interesting. The ending was amazing, and I was not expecting it at all. I love good plot twists, and this book was full of them. It was such a good story, and she told it really well. I would highly recommend this book.

It was my least favorite of Picoult's books. Not because she failed to research every aspect of her subject matter, she did. But it was just a very dark book and I quit halfway through.
