There is some wear to the cover in spots where the red cloth is rubbed away. There is a light crcack to the front hinge of the book from the outside, although the binding is still in place. The top edge of the pages are gilt, and so are the letters on the cover and spine. This copy is inscribed in pencil by "the Author" although the signature is not verified. The copyright page says "Private Circulation" with the city New York and the year 1880. There is a sticker fixed to the front endpaper saying "From the library of Pego Dailey."
