  • A History of 70s and 80s Horror Paperbacks

    Harper A. - 2 years 4 months ago

Paperbacks from Hell is a history of the 70s and 80s horror paperbacks, written by one of my favorite horror writers Grady Hendrix. He covers all types of fiction, from well-thought-out, beautifully written stories to the gross-out, mass market horrors. He also describes the rise of horror fiction from its gothic fiction infancy to its decline as "thrillers" took its place in the market. It was a fantastic read that was at times very funny and at other times quite sad (horror authors seem to have hard lives). I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the horror genre, or someone who just wants to read about the most insane plot lines ever written.
